After bashing Ranveer Allahbadia in his comeback video, Samay Raina reunites with him  for The Great Indian Kapil Show

Two men who fell out very publicly are back together on Netflix, and the internet cannot quite believe it

MUMBAI: India’s most talked-about awkward reunion is now confirmed and scheduled. Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, who have not appeared together since the India’s Got Latent controversy engulfed both of them in early 2025, will share a stage again on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, airing on 2nd May to mark World Laughter Day.

Netflix announced the appearance with characteristic flair. A promotional clip posted on Instagram shows Samay telling viewers he is finally appearing on his “favourite show” before learning, live on camera, who his co-guest will be. The moment Allahbadia walks in, visibly delighted, Samay’s face falls. “No way bro,” he says. The clip did precisely what Netflix intended: it broke the internet.

Kapil Sharma, whose show has become one of Netflix India’s most reliable crowd-pleasers, framed the episode as a natural extension of the series’ appetite for fresh material. “The love our show has received from the audience motivates us to keep delivering fresh and entertaining content for them,” he said. “On the occasion of World Laughter Day, we’ve planned a special episode with Netflix — natural, fun and full of laughter. This time, Samay and Ranveer are also joining in with their own unique style, making the celebration even more engaging. All we want is for people to laugh with us and enjoy the day.”

Ayushmaan Sethi, son of the show’s regular panellist Archana Puran Singh, added fuel to the anticipation. “I hear from Archana Puran Singh this was one of the funniest episodes,” he wrote online. Fans were equally animated. “Did not expect to see them together,” wrote one. “The internet got chills after seeing this,” said another. A third summed up the mood simply: “Reunion we never expected.”

The backstory gives the reunion its edge. In February 2025, Allahbadia appeared on Samay’s show India’s Got Latent alongside Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija. Remarks Allahbadia made about parents and sex triggered a firestorm of public outrage, multiple FIRs and regulatory scrutiny. Samay was forced to pull every episode of India’s Got Latent from YouTube. Allahbadia was barred from recording his podcasts until the Supreme Court of India intervened in March and allowed him to resume. In his subsequent stand-up special, Samay did not hold back, saying the controversy had caused him severe anxiety and pointedly blaming Allahbadia for the toll it took on his mental health. He also announced a second season of India’s Got Latent, because apparently some fires are worth walking back into.

That two men with such recent and very public grievances are now sharing a sofa on prime-time Netflix, cracking jokes for World Laughter Day, says something telling about the short memory of Indian entertainment — and the even shorter memory of its audience. The episode airs on 2nd May. The laughter, one suspects, will be only partly scripted.
