MUMBAI: The bot is clocking in. Elon Musk-led xAI has unveiled Grok Bot, a new AI agent designed to work like a digital coworker, handling multi-step tasks across workplace applications, websites and software with minimal human intervention.
Announced on 11 August and currently available in beta, Grok Bot is positioned as an “AI teammate” rather than a conventional chatbot. Instead of simply responding to prompts, it can carry out tasks independently, continue working in the background and return to the user when an approval or decision is required.
One of its key features is that each Grok Bot operates through its own computer in the cloud. xAI said this allows the agent to interact directly with websites, software platforms and business tools in much the same way as a human user. The system can also work with services that do not have dedicated APIs or integrations.
That opens the door to a wide range of workplace tasks. According to xAI, Grok Bot can update CRM systems, process invoices, prepare sales follow-ups, reproduce software bugs and create engineering tickets.
Users can assign work through a conversational interface on desktop or mobile, eliminating the need to build complex automation workflows. Once a task is assigned, progress can be monitored within the same conversation thread.
The bot can also learn by watching users perform tasks. xAI said that after being shown a workflow, Grok Bot can save the process, repeat it later and adapt based on corrections and user preferences.
The AI workforce can also be expanded beyond a single bot. Users can deploy multiple Grok Bots simultaneously across sales, recruiting, engineering, operations and inbox management. These bots can communicate with each other, hand off tasks and coordinate work through shared conversations or group chats.
xAI said its internal teams have already used Grok Bot for sales outreach, marketing campaigns, office operations and software debugging ahead of its public release.
The product is currently available in beta to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers on desktop and iOS. Enterprise users can join a waitlist for future access.
With Grok Bot, xAI is shifting the AI conversation from asking a chatbot to do something to handing the task over altogether putting the idea of an AI colleague one step closer to the office.
