MUMBAI: The next AI gold rush may not begin in Silicon Valley, it could start on the shores of Jamnagar. Meta and Reliance Industries have joined forces to build Meta’s first AI-enabled data centre in India, deepening their partnership and adding fresh momentum to the country’s ambitions of becoming a global hub for digital infrastructure.
The project will see Reliance develop a 168-megawatt facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat, designed to support Meta’s growing artificial intelligence computing requirements. The data centre is expected to be completed within the next two years, with provisions already in place for future expansion.
More than just a construction project, the agreement places Reliance at the centre of the facility’s entire lifecycle. The conglomerate will be responsible for design, construction, utility management, renewable energy supply, network connectivity and managed services, creating a fully integrated infrastructure ecosystem around the site.
