Detective Boomrah returns in AI-powered supernatural thriller series this winter

Sudhanshu Rai unveils first look of mystery series blending AI, mythology and detective fiction

NEW DELHI: There’s a new case on the file, and this one comes with more than just clues. It also brings artificial intelligence, supernatural forces and a mystery that stretches across seven lifetimes.

Storyteller, actor and filmmaker Sudhanshu Rai has unveiled the first look of Detective Boomrah and the Killer, a series being positioned as India’s first AI-powered supernatural detective thriller. Scheduled to premiere this winter, the project expands the Detective Boomrah universe by combining detective fiction, mythology and AI-assisted filmmaking.

The newly released first look introduces an eerie premise centred on a supernatural entity that silently follows its victims through seven births before claiming their soul once it believes their karmic journey is complete. As a young girl becomes its next target, the only person capable of confronting the unknown is the legendary Detective Boomrah.

Built around one of Rai’s most recognisable fictional creations, Detective Boomrah has already developed a loyal fan base through novels, podcasts and earlier screen adaptations. The upcoming series promises the detective’s most dangerous investigation yet, blending psychological suspense with paranormal horror.

The project has been jointly developed by Sudhanshu Rai and Puneet Sharma, who have shaped its creative direction. Rai has written the series and also lends his voice to Detective Boomrah, while Divyansh Sharma leads the AI-powered visual execution and editing, helping create its distinctive cinematic style.

Produced by Saints Art Private Limited, the team behind Baida and Chaipatti, the series is backed by producers Sudhanshu Rai, Manisha Sharma and Puneet Sharma. The first-look campaign has also received support from Mother Sparsh.

Speaking about the project, Saints Art Private Limited writer and producer Sudhanshu Rai said, “Detective Boomrah has always investigated mysteries that go beyond human understanding. With Detective Boomrah and the Killer, our vision was to create a supernatural detective thriller unlike anything audiences have experienced before. AI has given us new creative possibilities, but the soul of the series lies in its storytelling, its characters and the mystery that unfolds across seven births. We can’t wait for audiences to step into this new world.”

While AI is increasingly finding its way into filmmaking, the creators say the technology has been used to complement, rather than replace, traditional storytelling. Instead, it aims to enhance the series’ supernatural atmosphere and visual scale while keeping the mystery and characters at its core.

With mythology, detective fiction and AI-driven visuals converging in one narrative, Detective Boomrah and the Killer hopes to carve out a fresh space in India’s thriller landscape. Whether the detective can crack a case that spans seven lifetimes will be revealed when the series premieres later this winter.
