Apple brings AI powered creator tools across editing and productivity apps

Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator gain AI features in major update

MUMBAI: Apple is giving creators a smarter toolkit, proving that the next big edit may come from AI before human hands. The tech giant has unveiled a sweeping update to Apple Creator Studio, introducing artificial intelligence-powered features across its creative software portfolio to streamline video editing, music production, image creation and productivity workflows.

The update spans Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform, reinforcing Apple’s push to build a tightly integrated ecosystem for content creators.

Among the biggest upgrades is Final Cut Pro, which now includes Generate Captions, an AI-powered tool that automatically transcribes spoken dialogue into editable subtitles directly on the timeline. Editors can customise fonts, colours, animations and positioning without relying on third-party software.

Apple has also introduced Edit Detection, which analyses exported videos and reconstructs edit points on the timeline, allowing creators to revisit completed projects or quickly produce shorter versions from existing footage.

Mac users receive additional AI-driven capabilities, including Auto Mask, which identifies subjects such as people, hair, clothing, skies and foliage for selective editing using on-device AI. Other Mac-exclusive additions include an enhanced Match Color tool, Advanced Trimming, direct frame transfers to Pixelmator Pro, and new Creator Themes featuring multiple aspect ratios, dynamic titles and customisable backgrounds.

Following Apple’s acquisition of Pixelmator Pro, the image-editing software has become more deeply integrated into the company’s creative ecosystem. Users can now send frames directly from Final Cut Pro into Pixelmator Pro, edit graphics, posters or thumbnails, and sync them back automatically without manual exports.

The workflow also extends to Keynote, Pages and Numbers, where embedded images can be edited in Pixelmator Pro and instantly updated within documents. The application also gains AI-powered image generation, a new Content Hub offering premium graphics and illustrations, and natural language-powered vector shape creation.

Music creators also receive a substantial upgrade. Logic Pro now features an improved Chord ID capable of recognising more complex harmonies, including inversions and extended chords, even from imperfect recordings.

Apple has also added a Producer Project built around Grammy Award-winning producer Khris Riddick-Tynes’ track Shoulda Never, giving users access to the complete production session, including multitrack recordings, MIDI files and vocal takes.

Further enhancements include a new granular sync mode for Alchemy, accompanied by a dedicated Granular Alchemy Sound Pack, while Beat Breaker now offers additional filter modes, panning controls and randomisation options. The granular sync feature is also available in MainStage.

Beyond creative applications, Apple has refreshed its productivity suite. Motion now supports resolution-independent vector graphics and introduces Distribute Layers for animation workflows. Compressor adds an Immersive Metadata Viewer, improved stereoscopic previews and support for Apple Vision Pro media workflows.

Meanwhile, Keynote introduces new presentation transitions, Pages adds Auto-Hyphenate and Show Invisibles on iPhone and iPad, while Numbers now lets users colour-code or hide spreadsheet tabs. Freeform is set to receive AI-generated shapes, Pixelmator integration, Dark Mode, folders and Mac drawing support with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.

Apple said the Creator Studio update is available immediately as a free upgrade for existing subscribers. The service is priced at Rs 399 per month or Rs 3,999 annually in India, while students and educators can subscribe for Rs 199 per month or Rs 1,999 per year. New users receive a one-month free trial, and eligible purchases of new Macs and qualifying iPads include three months of Creator Studio at no additional cost.

The update signals Apple’s growing emphasis on AI-assisted creativity, with the company weaving intelligent automation across its software portfolio to reduce repetitive tasks while keeping creators firmly in control of the final cut.
