MUMBAI: The AI race is no longer about building bigger models, it’s about putting them to work. Wipro has sharpened its artificial intelligence ambitions with the launch of a dedicated Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on Anthropic’s Claude family of AI models, signalling the latest push by a major IT services firm to turn AI hype into enterprise-scale deployment.
Located at Wipro’s innovation hub in Bengaluru, the new facility will operate under the company’s AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit and serve as a testing ground for industry-specific AI applications, business automation and digital transformation initiatives.
The centre is designed to help organisations move beyond experimentation and embed AI into day-to-day operations. Wipro plans to deploy Claude-powered solutions across sectors including healthcare, mortgage services, manufacturing, aviation and consumer businesses, tailoring applications to industry-specific requirements.
At the heart of the initiative is a significant talent-building effort. Wipro aims to certify 10,000 frontline delivery professionals in Claude-based AI technologies over the next 18 months, creating a global network of specialists capable of helping clients integrate AI into core business processes.
The company said these engineers will work directly with enterprises to accelerate implementation, streamline workflows and unlock new efficiencies through intelligent automation.
But the AI makeover is not limited to client projects. Wipro also plans to roll out Claude models across its own operations, including finance, human resources and sales functions, as it seeks to become a more AI-native organisation from within.
The capabilities developed through the Centre of Excellence will be integrated into Wipro’s broader Intelligence platform stack, which supports business applications, delivery systems and industry-focused digital solutions.
The announcement comes as global technology and consulting firms intensify efforts to capture a growing wave of enterprise AI spending. Businesses across industries are increasingly looking to artificial intelligence for productivity gains, faster decision-making and operational efficiencies, creating fierce competition among service providers to establish themselves as preferred implementation partners.
With the launch of the Bengaluru-based centre and its commitment to train 10,000 professionals, Wipro is positioning itself not just as an adopter of AI tools, but as a key player in helping enterprises navigate what is rapidly becoming the next phase of digital transformation.
